My name is Julia, and I am a prospective Ph.D. student within the field of Human-Computer Interaction. My main research interests lie at the intersection of social computing and human-centered design, particularly in how these principles can be used in assisting marginalized populations flourish.
I am in my last year of undergraduate studies at UNC Charlotte, pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a focus in Human-Computer Interaction. I'm currently serving as a research assistant to Dr. Kim within the Integrated Research Design Lab (IRDL) at UNC Charlotte. My current research is studying how machine learning processes can be applied to data visualization and human-centered design. The end goal in this regard is so a variety of users can meaningfully interpret. Dr. Yang is supervising my independent research in this respect.
In my free time I enjoy running, playing violin, and collecting records from a wide variety of time periods and genres. I am a huge fan of Dvorak, Bob Dylan, and Björk.
